In an effort to re-imagine a hotel experience, we worked alongside designer Es Devlin, to bring to life this 7,000 square foot immersive installation that took over the ballroom within the Miami Edition Hotel during Art Basel.
Beginning with a typical hotel room, users would be primed with a 4-minute film projection mapped onto the wall under the guise of an oceanfront view. A portion of the wall would open at the end of the film revealing a pathway leading to a corridor of hotel doors. Guests would twist and wind their way through a maze of concentric half circle corridors.
Once guests were through the maze of doors, colorful slits of light rained through a central zoetrope depicting abstracted hotel experiences.
After weaving through dark corridors and being immersed in a walk-in zoetrope, guests were greeted with a large room in the form of a vaulted elliptical mirror maze before they exited back into the real world.
